MCKK Spartans Battle to Third Place at the STAR National SBP Championship 2025

The STAR National SBP Championship 2025, held from April 23rd to 25th at UITM Seri Iskandar, Perak, was a thrilling display of grit, determination, and school pride. 32 of the nation’s top school teams gathered to compete from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day. The tournament was more than just a competition; it was a battle of skill, will, and heart. And MCKK? MCKK proved that they were more than capable of standing tall in the face of challenges.

Tournament details provided by the President of the Malay College Football Association.

On Day 1, the group stage began with MCKK placed in a competitive pool with Sekolah Menengah Sains Batu Pahat (SEHEBAT), Sekolah Menengah Agama Persekutuan Bentong (SUPERB), and Sekolah Menengah Sains Rembau (SEMESRA). The first match was a demonstration of skill, control, and poise. MCKK dominated SEHEBAT with a 3-0 victory, showcasing their relentless attack, smooth teamwork, and sharp execution.

But then came the match against SUPERB—a match that didn’t go as planned. A costly defensive mistake, a missed opportunity, and the 2-0 loss left the team with questions, doubts, and a need to regroup. But would MCKK back down? No. They came back stronger, fueled by their resilience and the unwavering support of their Senior Assistant of Co-curriculum and their ever-encouraging parents.

Against SEMESRA, the Spartans displayed their true strength. With relentless pressure, quick passes, and precise finishes, MCKK won 2-0. With 2 wins and 1 loss, the Spartans finished second in the group with 6 points, securing their spot in the prestigious SUPER Stage.

On the final day, the stakes were higher. The quarterfinals brought MCKK up against Sekolah Menengah Sains Bagan Datoh (SABDA), a match that saw nerves of steel and a display of confidence under pressure. The penalty shootout was tense, but MCKK held their ground. Every penalty converted, every save made, and with a final save from the goalkeeper, MCKK secured their place in the semifinals.

In the semifinals, MCKK faced their fierce rivals, Sekolah Tengku Abdul Rahman (STAR). It was a battle that had it all: near goals, emotional highs, a free-kick that hit the post, and a defensive slip that allowed STAR to take the lead. Despite their relentless spirit, MCKK couldn’t overcome the 2-0 deficit. But did they give up? No. They fought until the final whistle, proving that the Spartans never back down.

MCKK finished in 3rd place, an achievement that speaks volumes about their grit, perseverance, and team spirit. This was not just a tournament; it was a journey of blood, sweat, and tears. The team’s dedication shone through, and their achievement reflects the tireless efforts of the players, coach, teacher advisor, and all those who supported them along the way.

MCKK Student Awarded Best Position Paper at AWMUN X 2025

MCKK Student Awarded Best Position Paper at AWMUN X 2025

What does it take to rise in a room full of the world’s best young minds? Grit, grace, and a goal that refuses to be shaken. At the Asia World Model United Nations X (AWMUN X), held from 14–17 February 2025 at Berjaya Times Square Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, a proud representative from The Malay College Kuala Kangsar (MCKK) stepped into the spotlight—and made history.

Competing under the banner of Turkey in the World Health Organization (WHO) council, our delegate tackled one of today’s most pressing issues: Battling the Misuse of Prescription Drugs. With meticulous research, unwavering commitment, and three days of focused writing, he crafted a position paper that was bold in ideas, clear in stance, and flawless in execution. The result? A perfect score of 100/100, the Best Position Paper Award, and the honour of being the first Malaysian ever to achieve such a distinction at AWMUN.

This achievement is not just a personal triumph—it’s a celebration of Koleq calibre, Koleq discipline, and Koleq spirit. To top it all off, his exemplary performance earned him a special feature interview with the AWMUN organisers—a platform where he spoke not only for himself, but for Malaysia, for youth diplomacy, and for the unwavering excellence that MCKK stands for.

With courage in his voice, strength in his research, and pride in his stride, he carried our crest into new arenas, opened doors for future delegates, and reminded the world what it means to be a boy of quality, a leader of substance, and a product of Koleq!

MCKK Shines at the Asia Youth International Model United Nations (AYIMUN) 2025

MCKK Shines at the Asia Youth International Model United Nations (AYIMUN) 2025

The Malay College Kuala Kangsar (MCKK) beams with pride as we celebrate an extraordinary milestone—an achievement born from courage, conviction, and commitment. At the 17th Asia Youth International Model United Nations (AYIMUN), held from May 2–5, 2025, in the bustling city of Bangkok, Thailand, a single student stood tall—not just for himself, but for the College, for the nation, and for a generation of future changemakers.

What does it take to shine on the international stage? Confidence, clarity, and character. These were the very traits our sole delegate carried with him as he represented France in the UNICEF Council, engaging in high-stakes debate on the pressing topic of “The Importance of Informal Education in 2025.” Armed with rigorous research, refined diplomacy, and a readiness to listen, he held his ground, spoke with purpose, and negotiated with heart. The dais was impressed, fellow delegates were moved, and his message—bold, balanced, and beautifully delivered—earned him the prestigious Verbal Commendation Award, a symbol of excellence and eloquence in a sea of over 600 participants from more than 50 nations.

And what makes this even more inspiring? He was only 15 years old—a Form 3 student competing alongside university-level participants aged up to 25. The youngest in his council. One of only two Malaysians to receive an award. One voice among many, but a voice that made waves. Is this not the very spirit of MCKK? To rise against the odds, to lead with intellect, and to speak for others when it matters most?

This triumph is more than just a personal victory—it is a powerful testament to the College’s enduring mission: to nurture leaders who are globally aware, academically driven, and morally grounded. It places MCKK firmly on the international MUN map and reaffirms our role as a training ground for diplomats, dreamers, and doers. To our remarkable delegate—we salute your bravery, your brilliance, and your belief in making a difference. You carried our crest across borders, across minds, and into hearts. And for that, we are not just proud—we are profoundly honoured.

MCKK to Represent Malaysia at Regeneron ISEF 2025, United States

MCKK to Represent Malaysia at Regeneron ISEF 2025, United States

The Malay College Kuala Kangsar (MCKK) proudly celebrates yet another historic milestone as our innovation team earns the honour of representing Malaysia at the prestigious Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) 2025. This global competition will take place from May 10 to 16, 2025, in Columbus, Ohio, United States.

From May 10 to 16, 2025, top STEM students from around the world will gather in Columbus, Ohio, for the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF)—the world’s largest and most prestigious international STEM research competition for high school students. ISEF brings together more than 1,600 brilliant young innovators from over 75 countries each year, providing a platform for students to present original research and compete for nearly USD 9 million in prizes, scholarships, and internships across 22 STEM disciplines.

Our journey to ISEF began with our participation in the Pertandingan Inovasi Sains, Teknologi dan Kejuruteraan (PISTEK) 2025, Malaysia’s sole official affiliate competition recognised by ISEF USA. Held at Multimedia University (MMU), Cyberjaya, from February 3 to 6, 2025, PISTEK 2025 brought together the top 30 teams, selected through a rigorous two-stage evaluation by a Scientific Review Committee from among hundreds of research proposals submitted by secondary school teams across Malaysia. Representing MCKK, our team secured an outstanding 4th place, positioning us among the nation’s top 6 teams and earning full sponsorship from the Ministry of Education Malaysia to represent the country on the world stage.

At ISEF 2025, MCKK will present Last Chance Groceries, an innovative mobile application designed to tackle two pressing issues: grocery waste and food insecurity among Malaysia’s B40 communities. The app connects consumers with surplus groceries nearing expiry at discounted prices, while also facilitating food donations and supporting recycling initiatives—aligning with circular economy principles. This remarkable project was developed by two Form 3 students from MCKK.

In recognition of this outstanding achievement, a special ceremony was held on April 28, 2025, by the Perak State Education Department. During the event, certificates of appreciation were presented by the Director of Jabatan Pendidikan Negeri Perak to honour their success in representing Malaysia at ISEF 2025.

This remarkable achievement embodies MCKK’s steadfast dedication to excellence, innovation, and the pursuit of knowledge. Congratulations to our brilliant innovators for reaching this prestigious milestone. As they step onto the global stage in the United States, we have full confidence in their abilities—may they rise to the challenge and make Malaysia’s mark on the world with pride and distinction!
